Time is slipping, and so is her control on the power that resides within her. Yet, in order to save her brother's life she is willing to risk it all.
Steve Review:
A few things come to mind as I read this. The YOUNG in young adult sci-fi really came into play for me in this book. To be fair, the recommended reading age for this book is 9-12 years old. I'm double that. Whoops, however a LOT has to be said for the plot of the book. Truly; it was inventive, kept you guessing as to what was going to happen next, and if I were a 10 year old boy I would definitely think Shamira was (a badass, hm can you say that on Chick Loves Lit? better stick with ---> ) awesome.
In a world of drugs, violence, and danger this tough blind girl kicks bum while learning to trust others and making a daring attempt to rescue her kidnapped brother. Yeah, that's right, Shanyn made me read the book about the blind girl, most likely just because I'm going to be an eye doctor, thanks sweetie :p .
The book is very simply written, almost too easy to understand, but if you keep in mind the age recommendation it makes it easier to swallow, kinda? While the ending was not totally open, it definitely leaves plenty of room for a sequel or series of Shamira's adventures.
Book Cover: 3/5 - Chick with a sword deffo got my attention.
Book Title: 2/5 - Yeah a pack of kids banding together to fight, just not THAT fitting of a title imho.
Plot: 8/10 - Like I said, great for a YA-sci-fi.
Characters: 5/10 - Shamira and Valens make a entertaining duo.

Writing: 5/10 - YOUNG adult-ish.
Ending: 6/10 - Decent.
Overall: 29/50 - Enjoy the adventure if you're a 12 year old boy. Shouldn't you be playing outside or something instead of reading this blog though?
